GeekLog is a content management system similar to PostNuke. It is written in php and uses a MySQL DBMS. I recently downloaded GeekLog to take a look at the source code. It is a nice system with some great functions and tight themes. The installation procedure needs some tweaking but I managed to get it up and running after experiencing a couple of small issues. After testing it out, I decided to try my hand at porting a GeekLog layout to a PostNuke theme. I went with the gameserver layout, one of my favorite GeekLog layouts. The finished product is now available for download under the Yofitech folder on our Downloads page.
You can preview the gameserver theme by selecting it from the theme preview block on our homepage. I plan to port the rest of the GeekLog layouts to PostNuke, starting with the clean layout. If you have a favorite GeekLog layout that you would like to use on PostNuke let me know and I will work on getting it ported for you.
I think it would be nice if GeekLog and PostNuke combined their forces and worked on a standard API. I know this is difficult, but I think it may be a worthwhile enterprise. Both systems share so much in common that their minor differences could be worked out if the core developers were willing to compromise. Well, we will have to push it along ourselves by working with both systems and bridging them where we see fit.
