I am not exactly sure how this went under the radar and was not detected earlier, but better late then never. Apparently there was a summit held in Washington DC back in the fall where various industry players met to discuss the role and future of Free and Open Source Software in our society. The opening presentation was by Red Hat's Chief Technology Officer, Michael Tiemann. There were four panels over the two day summit consisting of various information professionals from various organizations.
Panel one discussed the impact of Open Source: past, present and future. The moderator for panel one was the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy's Russel Neuman. NASA's David Nelson, IBM's Timothy Sheehy, and ALA's Fred Weingarten were also present on panel one.
The other three panels consisted of similar professionals but they discussed other topics related to their panel. Panel two discussed Intellectual Property Rights. Panel three focused on international issues, while panel four looked at chartering a course for the future.
